Since when is it a code violation for parking boat in the back yard? Front yard yes. Trailer can't pass the front wall of the house something or another. Must be jealous.

And just how is this boat in the backyard bothering anyone? It sounds like this person went out of their way to obey the rules regarding boat storage at their home. Unbelievable!

Turns out I can keep a boat in my back yard. However, it is against code to change the surface of a riteaway without getting a permit. Golliner do you own property in the neighborhood because no property is listed under your name. Trying to understand why my property is of such interest to you. So now I have to go get a permit for the shell driveway. If the is an issue hey why don't you do the neighborly thing and let me know so I can address it before getting the city involved.

I assume you had grass then put shell down? I guess you could have have just drove on the grass? I say move your shell up to your property line and let the grass fill in and don't let city get their after the fact permit fee.

I do own a house in Riviera Bay and I take great pride in my house. I’m also very aware that you can park your boat in your back yard. My problem, however, is the illegal driveway to get your boat there. That’s why I reported the driveway, not your boat. If you were my neighbor I’d do the neighborly thing and speak with you, but you’re not my neighbor. I understand that this is in your backyard on the other side of your fence (that is hidden to you) but the people that drive down this road everyday are tired of looking at all the junk being left in yards (propane tanks, mattresses, dishwashers, shell rock dumped on the ground) Instad if attacking people for reporting city code violations, let’s do things right in the first place.

I agree. The drive way was not finished I planned to put in wood to box it in. As for turning it into a thing. Which house is yours? I want to have something to strive for it must be perfect.

I am a neighbor... and I do not have any issues with this shell driveway. Mattresses yes, shell driveway shows he actually cares. Golliner, maybe instead of driving around other folks neighborhoods making city complaints.... do the right thing, and find a new road home (aka mind your own business).

So I took hackerz advice and moved some of the shell up for landscaping then dumped dirt and grass back down. I still don't understand how grass that looks more like weeds is better than the shell but the city is happy. As an unintended consequence the shell bed with top soil raised and evened out the grade. Thus solving my traction problem.
