Description

The 20 mph speed sign is way past Fort Washington Park and often cars are zooming past the park on Waverly St at 30-40 mph before they even see the 20 mph speed sign. On Sunday saw two more cars zipping past the park at probably 40 mph without slowing down.

The park is for dogs and children alike who sometimes run into the streets to get a ball when one goes outside the park grounds - this happens more often than you would like. The park has open gates onto Waverly street so this is hazardous. Several dogs playing in the park have already been hit by cars so this is an ongoing problem. Need something to slow down the speeding cars.

Recommend to 1) put a speed bump on road immediately before cars approach the park in addition to a speed limit sign or 2) place a Radar Speed Detection Sign that flashes a cars speed at or before Talbot street so cars can slow down *BEFORE* approaching the park.

While long term solutions are being considered, a near short term solution could be placing a speed limit sign between Putnam Ave and Talbot on Waverly street.
