Thank you for quickly securing the signpost in the sinkhole. Unfortunately, it has already come loose and is now in danger of falling over again. This is happening because the sinkhole was never filled. An adjacent panel of sidewalk is cracked and also falling in, which I reported as well. I am attaching a new picture of the sinkhole.

Thank you for using Commonwealth Connect to report a service request to the City of Salem. The Engineering Department will evaluate the request and take the necessary action to address it.

The sinkhole has been filled with rocks, but the hole has not been paved over yet. A barrel was left to cover the hole. I am assuming the department is coming back to finish the job and take away the barrel. Attaching a pic that shows that the work that hasn't been completed yet. Thank you.

Not sure why I am being asked to comment again or to close this issue. Please see a new attached picture. Isn't the City aware that the job wasn't completed? The sinkhole was filled with gravel in mid-September. Orange cones and an orange barrel covering the unfinished job were left at the work site. To update you, the gravel has settled and sunk. Two holes still exist. More gravel is needed to fill the sinkhole and paving will need to be done thereafter. Thank you again.
