Deskripsyon

Drivers often stop at the crosswalk thinking this is a 4 way stop sign. Good for traffic calming, but creates a near accident situation with other race drivers. What can we do to improve?

I have observed the same problem many times. Horns honk, cars brake quickly to avoid an accident because someone thought this crosswalk required stopping even though there were no pedestrians around.

I've referred this to our Public Works Department. When the staff has had a chance to respond I’ll post an update. Thanks for reporting.

Make Blount 2 ways. Have 4 stop signs or a light. That will slow it down.

Stoplight would be good....Franklin has one for Person.

Per Public Works, crosswalks were upgraded to Hi-Visibility Crosswalks to look less like a stopbar. This intersection does not meet warrants for signalization at this time. For further inquiry, please contact Rebecca Duffy via email at Rebecca.duffy@raleighnc.gov.

Seriously? I stand in the edge of the crosswalk watching cars whiz by me, never stopping to allow a pedestrian to cross. I know they don't have to stop unless I am in the crosswalk, but sometimes I have to jump back on the curb. In a previous SeeClickFix I was informed that a cross-hatch would be painted in the crosswalk (months ago), but as obvious as the signs are I'm not optimistic about pedestrian safety there.
