Thank you for contacting the City of Huntsville - Traffic Engineering. Due to a Public Works repaving project the detection sensor has been damaged at this intersection. Public Works will be working with a contractor to have them placed back soon.

Since the traffic signal at Covemont and Governors is being discussed, it should also be brought to the attention of Huntsville PD, the number of people that run this light (on a daily basis) traveling east and west on Governors Drive is extremely alarming. I’ve seen cars blow through this interestion after two cars turning from Covemont have gone through the green light. There have been many accidents over the years because people don’t pay attention to the flashing yellow lights or they’re in a hurry to work, school or home. In the future as Governors receives more traffic due to Cecil B Ashburn closure the situation at this intersection will only get worse. Honestly, with the current delay, it allows for the people of Covemont to leave their neighborhood safely because the traffic remains stopped.
