They've been trying to finalize the street paving, but each day it decides to rain which causes delays.

Thank you for reporting this issue, the noise ordinance does not apply to municipal operations. Unless this is a private sweeper on private property of some sort.

I agree with Sharlene. So, basically you're saying everyone has to follow the rules, unless your work for the city? Are you kidding me? I could see if it was an emergency but it's not.

The City does allow its street sweeping vendor to commence work on certain major thoroughfares, such as Broadway, prior to 7:00 a.m. It does this because those major roadways often become quite congested with school bus, MBTA bus and vehicular traffic in the morning, making it difficult to conduct street sweeping operations. Other communities also perform street sweeping of major thoroughfares in these early hours.

This is not a satisfactory answer, and certainly does nothing to contribute to the quality of life in our neighborhoods. The reasons you give as an excuse to allow this could just as easily apply to contractors and homeowners yet they would incur fines. The City needs to be held to the same standards, rules, and regulations as it imposes on residents and business owners.
