CBRE manages EmeryTech on Shellmound St., between 65th & 66th St. The homeless encampment is closely approaching our site. Do you have any updates or status with a resolution to move them from approaching our site?

Nothing will be done. We live near Home Depot and the encampments here have blown up (some literally) over the last few years. Police do their best to keep an eye on the encampments, but enforcement is limited because our laws don’t allow them to be applied to homeless. For the property you manage, I’d suggest hiring security guards, install better lighting this winter, and calling Emeryville City Hall to complain. Nothing will happen, but you can join the rest of us.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Our patrol units patrolled the area and did not locate any encampment near EmeryTech. The encampment are currently located in Berkeley and on the off-ramp of I-80. If you have any questions, please contact us. Thank you, M. Lee #311

Thank you for your response. Can we please schedule someone to walk the are with us? We don't believe you were in the correct area as we clearly see the encampment approaching closer to the property.

You can call the police department and request a security check. You can request to meet with the officer before he/she checks the area in question.

Unfortunately the encampments are out of Emeryville's jurisdiction and there are no plans; however, our patrol units frequent the area. M.Lee #311.

"No plans" was not the answer we were expecting. If Oakland is making attempts, why can't the neighboring cities work together?

Is this only being handled by Emeryville PD? Who at the City of Emeryville can be contact to request plans to have this issue resolved or at least brought the attention of this being a safety issue? CBRE values the tenants at EmeryTech and their safety.
