Starting at 30 Ave North and going South the West side of MLK; From Rolling Oats to the old Grow Building, grass cuttings blown into the street invite other trash to be captured by it. From 23 Ave to 22 Ave, grass cuttings and other debris like cups, bottle caps, candy wrappers and plastic bottle that are dropped by patrons of the Shell Station who walk Northbound. Also at the NW corner of MLK & 22 Ave North, two of us were at the red light waiting to go straight when a light blue Toyota was beeping at us to get on the sidewalk so he could make a right hand turn on red. From 22 Ave N down to 9th Ave N, there are private homes and apts who have lawn maintenance companies that just blow everything from grass, wrappers, bottles and rocks into the traffic lane. Same problems on the East side of the street.

Agree. Bike Lanes in general accumulate a lot of trash that is hazardous to cyclists. Gandy Blvd being the worst I've ever seen.

I'm a lifelong and avid bicycle rider,....but seriously? bike riders need to get over themselves and just appreciate what we have! I put Mr. Tuffy tire liners on my bike and I haven't had a flat tire since 2003!

Raymond... Not so worried about a flat but trying to dodge tree limbs, bottles, shoes, muffler parts, cans, car/truck tire bits, plastic bags that can have anything in them... Causing me, or any rider to crash OR being forced into motor vehicle traffic.

Lawn maintenance crews normally blow the debris across the sidewalk into the street and whatever littering that was left on the mowed property and sidewalk is now blown into the bicycle lane.

Gee, again it seems like this was a horrible idea for yet another reason. Seems like many are missing the fact that this NEVER should have been done to begin with....

qq... You might be right, but this is the perfect example of how things will go;
...Because of nice big wide lanes on the right side of the road, we should expect a number of incidents where cars turning right from the roadway will strike bikers in that intersection lane. Then of course our sanctuary city mayor will throw heaps of (your) money to find a solution to the senseless damage to humans and their bikes.
...We can add pedestrian push button flashing lights at every intersection which will slow down the bikers at every street corner (e.g. Pinellas Trail between First Street and 31st Street).
...OR... The mayor and city council could direct the Police Dept to help save lives and bicycles by issuing a few thousand warnings and citations, (thus educating the driving public) about Bicycles, Skate Boarders, Pedestrians, Wheelchairs and Children.
...A beginning One Week push and followed by a couple of random days each month by law enforcement (actually riding bicycles with unmarked vehicles as backup) will save lives, bicycles, and tax payers dollars.

...THIS will make the city of Saint Petersburg a Truly great city for cyclists.
