I frequent this park weekly and it's my favorite place for a quick run but it's the worst kept park that I've personally seen in the bay area. Most dogs are without leash and some animal owners are ride to those scared of their off leash dogs even though it's the law. Its a park that comes with an obstacle course if you like skipping dog poop. Never seen a worst park every few steps dog poop. The trash problem is so bad I bring a bag and a garbage picking stick before I run because it looks like Menlo Park doesnt have the resources. I wish Facebook would pay to clean it since it's right next door. I'll still go run Monday but I wish they would fix this.

It makes no sense that a park visitor (and quite possibly a MP tax payer) has to leap-frog dog feces & trash and deal with rude & threatening animal owners. Think about it folks.

I don't think this would b tolerated at Burgess or Sharon Park.

If you're that afraid carry pepper spray. We need our police to focus on bigger issues...

Obviously people have a lack of respect for others and if you're aware of that be prepared. But also maybe create a fund for park rangers? But... if a police is called for every off leash dog, that means he's not somewhere else where he's actually needed.

Additionally, if the owner is ACTUALLY violent, then call 911.

Totally agree! This needs to be fixed. I used to bike there and eventually gave up with all the dogs running and sometimes chasing. I've seen ladies with small kids on bikes, waiting and waiting for non-leash to move away.
Pepper spray is NOT an option, you kidding me! People these days shoot over a parking space.
MP police don't have to watch for every dog off leash, but they can go there once in a while and give citations. Also, a proper sign would be good.

It would be great to have a ranger back at the park, as we used to have. That would do so much for safety, cleanliness, and general enjoyment of the park. Even the big board with map and regulations, which broke and was removed earlier this year, hasn't yet been replaced so it's hard for a visitor to know what is and is not allowed (unless you stop and read the small icons at the entrance gate while driving in).
