Please fix these problems (overflowing dumpster, rat holes, unkempt yard, and rats).

This issue is more than a ”Quality Of Life” issue. It is also a HEALTH issue. There is a restaurant and a the market that serves prepared food. Ward13Advocate please NOTIFY the Health Dept of your posting. Let’s hope they will step in and help everyone. Hopefully all the candidates running for the office of Mayor and City Council will see this and help you resolve this issue.

I hope the authorities address this ISSUE immediately. Especially considering the fact that there is a restaurant serving food to the public!

I called the Providence Public Works and Environment dept. Thursday morning and they have not called me back... This is what the City Website says:

It is important to keep lids on trashcans to keep rodents out. You can report various rodent sightings to the Department of Environmental Services. Once a report has been made, the owner of the property must sign a consent form. The department will then start the baiting process. "

Called them on Thursday and left message... I will try again soon if they don't follow up.

Providence Public Works just gave me a call back. They said that because they baited my apartment's backyard 2-3 weeks ago, they can't come back... They told me to call Environment dept. and they're going to send someone tomorrow. Apparently the operator hasn't heard of See-Click-Fix!

If you do not find any resolution - may I suggest perhaps taking your issue/concern to the media - Channels 6, 10 or 12. It is always a good way to get the problem resolved - especially during this election year!

This site was inspected yesterday and it appears that the dumpster was already serviced, as a result, there were no violations for which Environmental Services could fine. The area inspector will be monitoring this site over the coming month.

What is the restaurant? They are at fault. Call them and harrass them! Tell them that you and your friends/neighbors/colleagues will stop going there if this continues. They are responsible for having dumpster emptied on a regular basis or adding another dumpster if necessary! Have to get to the root of the problem, not temporarily mending.

Dumpster was re-inspected on 9/1 and 9/3. On both occasions, it was in perfect condition. Evidence of rats was identified in the property behind the dumpster. Environmental will focus on a baiting strategy for this area in the coming weeks.

I apologize to be responding not about this particular issue, but to invite you to a 'SeeClickFix Storm' happening throughout Rhode Island THIS weekend. The neighbors living near the dumpster are still seeing many rats running around at night.

Dumpster continues to be monitored by Environmental Services. No violations have been identified over the last 2 months. Baiting of the perimeter (residential area) has been underway; the rat population is beginning to dwindle.
