Wow. What a resolution to this issue...

Have the homeowners been notified that this is their problem and given a time by which the repairs must be made? If not this issue is not closed. Indeed it is not closed until the sidewalk is made safe for walkers! Isn't is the business of the city to protect its citizens?

This is issue has not been resolved. The hole is still there.

It's a fairly serious situation and dangerous to the citizens who walk this area. It is NOT just the owner's problem, it is a problem for people walking on that mess. Can the owner not be made to correct the issue within a set amount of time?
