Checked issue on 12/26/18. Pipes and boxes are open. Listened to recording from neighbor and the sounds seem to be from the water and echoes being made inside the box from the water flow. The noise recurred again during the rains of the past few day, a loud sound that can be heard from inside my house at #4320. This is a NEW noise that started a few weeks ago. I have lived here for 10+ years, and have not heard this before.

I have attached a map of the storm drains in the area, as well as of the possibly related sink hole that was filled with dirt a few weeks back. In the map, five storm drains are marked. Number 3, in front of #4317 was cursorily inspected (cover removed, quick glance into storm drain, cover replaced). Because the loud noise is strongest at storm drain #3, weaker at #1, and weakest at #4, I suspect the cause of the noise is between #1 and #3. It so happens there is another storm drain cover at #2, in the lawn, right next to the light post. I suspect this is the location of the problem.

I wonder whether the new, loud noise may be the result of a partial blockage at or near location #2 in the map.

I would like to request the County inspect the storm drain pipe at location #2 in the attached map.

Lots of noise again today as light rain and melt water run down the storm drain. The noise is a combination of two sounds: the normal sound of flowing and falling water, as well as a loud echo from somewhere up the drain.

Interestingly, when there is heavy rain, there is only the sound from flowing and falling water. The loud echo disappears.

Have checked area on different occasions, checked pipes on roadway all clear with no obstructions. Have found no abnormalities at this site.
