I am the Manager of the complex next to this badly disrupted sidewalk. I provided the pictures to the City in June, 2018 illustrating the dangerous sidewalk condition. As stated in this today's notice, the attempt to fix this sidewalk has failed. Perhaps it was only meant to be a temporary solution. However, at this point, a more permanent repair must be done. I recommend a similar procedure to what was done on the Whitmore Street side of the building, which appeared to be trimming the very large tree roots, possibly preventing the roots from further growth. Finally, the City crew built a new concrete sidewalk, which looked very nice. Please do what needs to be done both to maintain the life of the tree and to protect the sidewalk from constant damage.

Problem not repaired as of 10/28/2019. Sidewalk buckling has worsened. Please repair before being sued like the sidewalk problem on Gilbert & Pleasant Valley a couple of years ago.

I must support this person re-reporting the problem with this tree. As visibly shown above, I complained to the City in June, 2018 and restated this problem in January, 2019. I MUST NOW INCREASE THE LEVEL OF THIS PROBLEM. The above picture shows a metal door on the opposite side of the sidewalk from the tree. The tree has disrupted the sidewalk so badly that this door cannot be opened. THIS DOOR IS A FIRE "EMERGENCY" EGRESS DOOR FROM OUR GARAGE. The sidewalk disruption must be repaired to allow fire egress from this door. This is another legal liability exposure the City faces, if the City continues to fail to address this sidewalk damage.

It's June 18, 2020. Still nothing has been done!

This is the Manager of the HOA complex again. I wrote the June 2018 complaint, the 01-09-2019 complaint registered here, the 10-28-2019 complaint here, and now this 4th complaint. I must restate the FIRE EGRESS DANGER addressed in my 10-28-2019 complaint. If someone is injured or killed as a result of inability to open the metal door to escape a fire, the City will face a massive lawsuit as a direct result of negligence by failing to address this problem, which has now been on record for 2 years (since June, 2018). Further, as pointed out by other posters and by my posts, this is a danger to the many senior citizens in our complex and our senior neighbors, especially those neighbors at "The Point" senior facility, less than one block away. Enough is enough. Take responsibility and perform your duty.

I believe this tree should be removed and a tree more likely to fit in this small space should replace it

This has been a problem for over 7 years! There is an acknowledgement but nothing has been done. This is a City of Oakland problem, deal with it!
