as of 1:55pm on 01/20/2019 - there is a water leak in the alley way behind the American Bar. Our water crew had to shut down the water in the following area;
200 Block of W. Coal and the 200 Block of W. Aztec
You have no water due to the water leak in the area. Please give the water crew a minimum of 4hrs to repair the water leak.
The City responded to the line break on Sunday. There was also a gas leak, which had to be attended to prior to the City crew working on the waterline. New Mexico Gas Company responded from Farmington, which added an additional four hours to this repair - this is outside of the City's control. The water service was restored on Sunday night. There was a small leak on the repair discovered Monday morning. The Water Department informed businesses of this and the need for another outage, which was scheduled after business hours, as we are making every effort to work with businesses on issues like this. Water service is now back up.
It typically takes ~4 hours to repair a leak. This is because we have to call in line locates for other utilities in the area, so we don't hit other services while excavating. Line locates can take up to two hours. The excavation in the alley is difficult, because there are multiple utilities in that corridor - gas, cable, water, sewer, so it's usually slower going.
