Description
Crosswalk markings are not visible to cars at James and Minor Ave. Pedestrians are not safe crossing the 4 lanes of traffic between parking garage and place of work. I almost get hit every day because cars are not paying attention or choosing to ignore signs above the street. There are no road markings and a light to signal pedestrian crossing would be helpful.

This intersection is frequently traveled by hospital employees, hospital patients and pedestrians and is one of the most dangerous intersections in the city. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE NOW to protect the public from vehicles driving too fast, and being distracted. I have been navigating this intersection for 5 years, multiple times a day, and have almost been hit by cars too many times to count.
Today I was hit by a distracted driver in the intersection of James and Minor. The driver fled the scene after hitting me. What is it going to take for action to be taken by the city??? A fatality?! Someone being seriously injured?! I am lucky that I walked away from being hit today with only minor injuries. It is just a matter of time before someone is killed if the city doesn’t act fast!
I am including my police report number for the city’s reference. It is imperative signals, flashing lights (like Virginia Mason has for their pedestrians) and a crosswalk are installed immediately!
City of Seattle PD incident #: 2019-181114
I will be emailing the mayor of Seattle and contacting SDOT today to hopefully get someone to act on this serious matter immediately

Thank you, Skye. We need to bring all the attention we can to this dangerous intersection. That’s a great idea to get the media involved. I think I will email them too!
Has anyone emailed or called the Swedish transportation department? Or notified Guy Hudson of the importance of putting in a crosswalk and flashing lights to protect employees and patients of Swedish? Maybe they can help put pressure on the city to make the necessary changes to make this intersection safe
