This has been reported numerous times.Every Friday DPW comes by drops cold patch asphalt and drives away. Last drop was on a Saturday Feb 16, 2019. Probably earned good OT for those drops. City said only way to resolve was to ask councilor for repavement or reseal and we know that won’t happen because our side of the city is the least important. Just look at all the empty businesses and lack of a new school on our side of town. I live on Copeland and my house literally shakes when traffic drives by. Not to mention we are a major route for over 20 UPS trucks each day.

I also live on copeland street. It is a mess!!! The cold patch they put in would stay in if they did it right. Just dumping it in a hole and running over it doesn’t work.

I also live off Copeland Street and travel on it daily. Since January 1st, I have reported the clusters of potholes on Copeland Street between Hayward Ave & Southworth St at least three times. Because the road surfaces expand and contract with the temps, patches are only temporary.
Copeland Street is on my Ward 4 street paving wish list. Unfortunately DPW asked Ward councilors to ID only a single street for repaving in 2019; there are 12 on my list! Since Copeland is heavily travelled, I will also inquire about it. But the asphalt plants are closed for a few more months. Until then, please everyone, drive slowly on Copeland Street!

Councilor, I am sure that you are doing all you can. The entire stretch of Copeland is a mess from WB line to Southworth. I realize that patches are temporary and weather plays a significant part but we’ve been dealing with this issue for at least the past two years. Again, this area of Brockton is not even on the radar of City Hall so even with your input, we will always be last in line.

I hope that’s not so, especially in an election year. The city has not spent enough on repaving in the recent past, it is true. I am told that is due to reductions in Chapter 90 funds from the state. The condition of the streets affects residents’ quality of life as well as the employees of And visitors to city located businesses. I truly believe our DPW does their best, and they have been responsive to my many requests. I will pursue this with DPW and other councilors.

Susan Nicastro thank you for responding. I used to live on the west side and have always been very happy with response times from the DPW. It would be very discouraging to find out only some areas are taken care of in this city. Being a driver of Brockton in all areas in my opinion this should be a priority. Drove by a disabled vehicle a few days ago with a flat tire.
