Arizona Sunset HOA is Located off of Rita Ranch Road and Rankin Loop. This entire community has major road issues with cracks all the way up to pot holes. The HOA is requesting that the entire community be repaved or repaired as this has been an ongoing issue since before 2008. One homeowner stated that she does not believe that they have been repaved in the last 20 years. The plat map has been attached.

Thank you for contacting the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) regarding the pavement condition of Arizona Sunset HOA.
In May 2018, City voters approved Proposition 101 - Tucson Delivers Better Streets Program – a five-year program to resurface and reconstruct City streets with a half-cent sales tax increase.
The Mayor and Council and City Manager have appointed an 11-member Bond Oversight Commission (BOC) to monitor the progress of the approved projects and to select the residential streets to be resurfaced following TDOT’s recommendations. The BOC has been tasked to also oversee the progress of Proposition 101 and just recently selected the residential streets that will be resurfaced in this five-year program.
Pima County also has a one year program to resurface residential streets. The Regional Local Road Repair Program is funded by the 25-cent Pima County Property Tax approved by the Pima County Board of Supervisors. Approximately $19.5 million in local road improvements are being performed region-wide this year. More information on the Regional Local Road Program can be found at www.pima.gov/transportation or by calling (520)724-6410.
Unfortunately Arizona Sunset was not selected by TDOT or the BOC to receive funding through the City or County Residential Paving Programs. Despite the passage of Prop 101 and efforts made by the City of Tucson Mayor and Council, there is still not enough funding to address all the infrastructure needs. There are many roadways throughout the City of Tucson that are in desperate need of resurfacing that are not included as part of either plan. To bring all City residential streets to an excellent condition, about $600 million is needed. The need is far greater than our current resources.
TDOT staff has created a Citizen’s Request Log (CRL) that specifies the segments of roadways and neighborhoods that citizens have asked to be resurfaced. The CRL is regularly forwarded to the BOC. In the event there is additional funding capacity in the program, the BOC could consider roadways and neighborhoods on the CRL. YOUR STREET has been added to the CRL.
In the meantime, asphalt issues in your neighborhood can be reported to the TDOT Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division by calling 791-3154 or via email at tdotconcerns@tucsonaz.gov and a work order will be created.
Additional information on the Tucson Delivers Better Streets Program can be found online at https://www.tucsonaz.gov/tucsondelivers. If you have any other transportation-related question or concern, please contact the TDOT Public Information Officer Mike Graham at 837-6686.
