Non-emergency law enforcement issues (illegal parking and activities, noise ordinance violations, etc.) need to be reported directly to the agency who has jurisdiction in that area. The contact to report vehicles parked in the ROW is: Sheriff's non-emergency; (941) 316-1201.

This is not an occasional problem but a chronic safety issue. Cars are constantly blocking the sidewalk and right of way on Canal Rd leading to the Village. Children on bikes and parents with strollers have to navigate this narrow road while cars speed by along blind corners. Someone will get hurt eventually if County staff don’t take a look at this road and address the safety issues proactively. Please do not kick the can down the road by referring calls to Sherriff deputies who are already overwhelmed on the Key dealing with spring breakers and other issues.

The issue of the cars at rentals on Canal Rd blocking the sidewalks and creating dangerous conditions for pedestrians and bicyclists continues. There had been no improvement, if anything it continues to get worse. The County must please work to get parking enforcement on these busy streets so that sidewalks and bike lanes are kept clear of vehicles. Residents should not have to report ad hoc, it really needs to be addressed as routine enforcement.
