Descrição
On both sides of Communipaw Ave - between Monticello/MLK all the way to West Side Ave the city has signs posted that allow for legal parking in a marked travel lane. This is very dangerous, especially at night and/or for those unfamiliar with this strange pattern change. Please, either remove the parking signs or paint a solid line so drivers know that this is not a travel lane.

P. What pedestrian and traffic safety elements would you like the city to consider here (select all that apply, if any)?

Rich, thanks for the clarification. After reading your explanation I agree that this could be a reasonable compromise between parking and moving vehicles at peak times. However, I still feel that some improvements are needed.
1. Placing signs in these areas that alert drivers to the fact that parking will be allowed in a marked travel lane during off peak hours.
2. Has JC collected data that supports the 4-7pm parking restriction for westbound traffic and the 6-10am restriction for eastbound traffic? JC has become a popular destination to live and not simply a connection to NYC. Many people sit in traffic on Communipaw trying to leave the JC (westbound in the morning) and struggle to return in the evening.
3. Lack of parking enforcement. West of Bergen Ave people most often respect the pm rush hour parking restriction. East of Bergen Ave there is very little enforcement - at 6:20 pm on Thursday 4/11 the westbound lane with a 4-7pm parking restriction was lined with parked vehicles between Monticello and Bergen Ave.
The inconsistencies on Communipaw in this area as they are today are dangerous and will likely result in an accident. No need for more bad publicity in this neighborhood, especially as this unsigned pattern jeopardizes pedestrian safety.
