I agree. In general it's about time those in charge of the rink took responsibility to clean it up right at the end of the season. Every year it takes repeated complaints to get it done.

It didn't get done at all last year, that's two years worth of liners! I shudder to think what is under that first liner.

Mosquito breeding is definitely a concern. Here’s a picture of trash on the other side of the hockey shed, including a nice pool of standing water on more discarded liners. I’ve emptied the pool but the rink organizers should really clean up thoroughly.

Could we get a status update on this from Burlington Parks?

The parks department has to coordinate the removal of the liners. We are only 50% staff at this time - we remain committed to making sure it gets cleaned up when time allows other neighbors have requested using some of the liners, but this has not been the reason for the delay. We are meeting with neighborhood volunteers to help coordinate all the remaining work that needs to occur and to discuss the issues from last year's operation.

It has now been four months since the rink was dismantled and two months since I reported this issue.
