For as long as I have been driving, this stretch of road has been worse than driving through a dirt parking lot. I have seen streets around this section paved, but public works always ignore this heavily traveled section. (Jackson St. between 7th and 8th)

Yes! this part of Jackson St should be fixed! I agree with David... worse than driving through a dirt lot.
