Description

There is heavy loitering in the form of begging and consuming alcoholic beverages on the 2400 Block of Martin Luther King Ave. S.E. D.C. This occurs especially during rush hours. People usually loiter around the liquor stores and corner stores in this area.

This should be reported to the police (911) not 311. There are no anti- loitering laws in DC. Citizens must call 911 to report loitering in order for police to do anything about it. Otherwise, the police cannot approach loitering groups.

This issue has already been reported to the Police with little to no change so it is important to get the message out on all forums. Any real help you can do appreciated.

I agree with L Jeru. Our local cops, MPD, seldom do anything about the obvious violations of laws that occur down there by those two liquor stores at the corner of MLK Jr. Ave. and Talbert St. We deserve a better government than the one we get, and that's directly due to the fact that we live in a city where the local government is up for sale to the highest bidder. MPD only responds to loitering complaints in neighborhoods where rich people live. That's a crappy kind of government.
