Description
Another “sink hole” has developed at the storm drain inlet in front of my house. As the attached photo shows, I placed red flags around the area so no one might get hurt if they step in the area. I am especially worried about the neighborhood kids, who play ball in the street all the time.
The whole area around the “hole” is “very soft” and I also placed a 4 foot plastic pipe into it to see how “deep” it was and almost lost it! I estimate that the “hole” is around 4 - 5 feet deep and goes under the grass area surrounded by the red flags. This has happened many times before.
Also, there is water seepage coming up from the edge of the valley curbs and also on sections of the streets road surface itself!

Yesterday, the 19th at 3:22PM I spoke to a County worker who came to look at the problem. He told me that it would take a few days to fix, as they would have to dig down to expose the bottom of the inlet and install some kind of fabric before refilling the hole and they would also replace the damaged sod. I thanked him and then he put up a light barrier, but the light did not work, and then he left.
Today, the 20th, I was not home, but my security camera recorded that a County crew arrived at 8:36AM , and left within 3 minutes at 8:39AM. They probably inspected the “sink hole” area to see what they might need to repair it. A while later at 9:13AM they returned, worked on the repair and left at 9:34AM. I got back home around 10:30AM and noticed that the light barrier was gone, so I then saw that the repair was done and checked my security camera.
Unfortunately, after the rain late this afternoon, the area “sunk” again!!
I placed a red flag marker at the area that “re-sunk”. It appeared to me that all they did was “fill” the “sink hole”, did not dig up to expose the bottom of the inlet and install some kind of fabric before refilling the hole, as I was told the day before!
Please have them come back and fix the “new” depression, as it will only get worse with the next rain and will be a “danger” to the neighborhood kids when they play ball in the street around the area.
I really do not think that it was done correctly and should be “re-fixed” the proper way!
Thank You,
