A good change would be a sign "No parking from her to corner" on the Cliff Street end of the block and another on the Deforest Heights end of the block. As well as a "no parking in between signs" in between the two driveways on the East side of the block. Often times residents have to drive across part of the green belt to exit their driveways as there is not enough space to exit the driveway with a truck when vehicles are directly across the street. Attached is a video taken during the day of me exiting my driveway. One can see how tight it is. Sometimes its even tighter and its especially difficult at night and in the winter when cars park further from the curb due to snow banks.

The congestion and poor sight lines at the crosswalk make it very dangerous for kids walking and biking to and from school, as well as adults. I think a "No parking from Here to Corner" sign would help the pinch by the crosswalk. Further, the parking across from driveways on such a narrow street has lead to several fender benders over the past several years. "No parking in between signs" would allow residents and guests to enter and exit driveways more safely and avoid having cars roll over green space, curbing and sidewalk.

The current parking regulations for OverLake Park is clearly not working as designed. The street has become a loophole for commuter (UVM) students and apartment residence. I can't understand how Summit Street can be residence only (2x the street width), yet OverLake Park is 4 hr parking (which is NEVER monitored). I agree with the previous comments. The current situation is not working and will lead to more accidents and frustration. This should be dealt with before the winter snowbanks makes the situation worse.

The neighborhood is transforming with more young families and increased need for safe streets. Since Summit Street (much wider than Overlake Pk) leading into Overlake Park is "resident parking" only it seems natural to extend this to the section of Overlake Park between Cliff Street and Deforest Rd? The residents of this section rarely park on the street because it is so narrow, and on the occasion that they do, they understand the impact street parking has on safety and on access/egress by parking only in locations that minimize the impact on both. There is also the occasional need for service vehicles to park on the street. Currently this section of Overlake Park is used as parking for UVM or Champlain related. traffic as it is the only hold out where this possible although the street is least suited for it.

I agree with the above comments. Parking on Overlake Park has become congested and I am concerned about the safety of the young children who play on this congested street. Commuters cut through Deforest Road from Willard Street and zip through Overlake Park to get to South Prospect during rush hour to avoid Main Street congestion. This increases traffic on Overlake Park/Deforest Road and Cliff Street during commuting times. The commuters race through this neighborhood and are not watching out for children. The congested parking and the added traffic are not safe for the children who play and walk to/from school along this street.

Example this morning of difficulty of entering and exiting driveway because of parked vehicle. Impossible to make right turn out if driveway while backing in forced car onto median between road and sidewalk.

DPW has a Narrow Streets policy, which includes a SOP that directs when parking restrictions are appropriate. Overlake Park is considered a narrow street; a narrow street is any street which is 28 feet wide or less, and Overlake Park is between 21-22 feet wide for the majority of the street. Ultimately, parking is restricted to one side of street already, based on the existing Narrow Streets policy and site conditions, Staff would not recommend additional parking restrictions at this time.
