Description
My neighborhood in Dongan Hills has had brown water for months. We’ve been submitting 311 tickets and all the DEP does is flush the fire hydrants. We spoke to the DEP again this morning and they said “all they can do is flush the hydrants”. Essentially acting like it’s no big deal. Completely unacceptable. Every one should check their water. Attach a white rag to the faucet and run cold water, and you’ll know if your home or building is affected too.
To add this problem, my Street has been having an issue with faulty electrical lines leading to power outages. It’s happened three times in five months, twice two weeks ago. Con Ed has an exposed line running across the middle of the street to connect the transformers and generate power for the whole block. Combine that with the DEP constantly flushing the hydrants and you have an increased risk of someone getting electrocuted.
