I complained about this over a year ago, along with safety issues at every intersection on Bay up to Newark where there is not a light—not that one can wall past Marin anymore, though Marin is treacherous. A safety study was promised regarding Bay months ago. Nothing appears to have been done besides striping Greene which remains ineffective.

Thank you for submitting this issue. We are continuing to work with Councilman Solomon, DPW, and the City's roadway striping contractor improve the safety at this intersection. In the past year, we have striped crosswalks cross both the north and south legs of Greene St at Bay St, installed pedestrian crossing signs, installed a protected bike lane which shortens the crossing distance, and installed a curb extension at the southwest corner of the intersection. We will be extending the curb extension further south to better clear the corner and improve visibility between pedestrians and motorists. A traffic signal is not warranted at this intersection at this time, but we plan to move forward with installing Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs), which are user actuated flashing pedestrian crossing signs, across Greene St. The markouts of the signs are anticipated to be completed in the upcoming weeks.

RRFBs were installed at this intersection.

The RRFBs don't help. People don't stop even when they're flashing.

^^ RRFBs are not necessarily getting vehicles to stop. Even if vehicles slow, they will proceed through the crosswalk in the lane immediately behind peds still in the crosswalk. Police enforcement operations are needed before someone is injured or killed

Per traffic department, "We have now done multiple traffic studies, made several pedestrian safety improvements including high-visibility crosswalks, bike lanes, curb extensions, and RRFBs (user-actuated flashing pedestrian crossing signs).
