Students crossing in the crosswalk near the LSA building are often very hard to see at dusk and at night (and sometimes during the day). There are parking spaces that abut the crosswalk and when there are large SUVs parked, it’s very hard to see pedestrians entering the crosswalk. This is compounded by the lack of street light, but seeing a short student behind a tall Yukon or equivalent is impossible. Perhaps those parking spaces could be converted to motorcycles or even removed?

Because of the crosswalk removal, on State St, there is now an 800 ft gap between pedestrian crosswalks (the north crosswalk at William St, and the south crosswalk next to the University of Michigan Museum of Art).
This enormous gap seems extremely unacceptable for such a well pedestrian-trafficked area. Indeed, most pedestrians justifiably don't want to walk 400 ft in each direction to cross State St, so they jaywalk and are frequently nearly hit by cars. It seems like only a matter of time until a pedestrian is seriously injured or killed.
