I vote for this to be resolved as well. Someone has already reported the same issue last month, and the city took no action. It's becoming clear the city only pays attention to issues in the more affluent parts of the city.

Yes it’s been reported several times. Last time they referred it to Sanitation which they said issued a notice and summons for trash. This time they sent it to housing code. There are truckers sleeping in their cabs. OK. But we still haven’t seen enforcement for illegal truck stop including repairs, coupling and uncoupling of trailers, tire changing.

agreed. I passed by yesterday and there are more and more vehicles piling up there.

Today looking at the property not only are the trash piles growing on the side and back if you look at the front between those tall shrub's there are black trash bags. I along with others have been reporting on this property many times. Couldn't get a full clear picture of front.

I called the city and reported this with the claim ID number, and the city clerk just differed this issue to another group. I suggest people call the city and keep reporting. looks like no one in the city wants to take responsibility for this issue unless it does not get escalated.

the city did take notice of the situation at this location, a notice of violation was issued to the property owner along with several summons to court. it takes time for this to resolve due to the owner is out of state and the time it takes for it to get a hearing. the city just cannot move in and clear it out, its a legal process that must be followed

Thanks to Rich. Can you tell us the actual charges ? We’d like to know if it’s just for the trash or if it’s also for the improper use of the property. Zoned for restaurant not truck stop and service center. Also who is owner. This is all public information subject to Open Public Records Act. We know the court process takes time but it took several months for different departments closing this ticket with no action or proper referral.

the summons that the recycling and enforcement division has cited them for failure to maintain and improper storage of trash. as for the trucks they are parking illegally unfortunately this happens to places with a large piece of land and is up to the owner to have them removed
as far as open public records you need to submit that in writing to the JCDPW for that information

Thanks again. It is possible that the owner is allowing this and profiting from this since the Mexican restaurant never made a go of the business. It seems we will just have to write to the mayor, council, corporation counsel, municipal prosecutor NJDEP (idling tractors) and the JJ and Bergen Record. I live on a large tract of land and don’t have a truck stop here.

anything is possible that's why we put in a notice of violation to get the owner in front of the courts
what i meant to say about large pieces of land was that truckers will take advantage of any commercial property that seems abandoned esp on a highway or free way because they don't want to spend the exorbitant costs of overnight parking at truck stops or security ports.

Guys good news! The fire department is there right now along with JCPD responding. The owner is here now trying to get all the vehicles off the property!
Not bad, this only took me 2 weeks to get this ball rolling.
It's definitely not over until that area gets cleaned up again!
