And this is not just a small annoying noise, this is a huge slamming/banging/metal clanging repetitive noise that is highly disruptive. Please investigate!!

Heard the noises AGAIN last night...just before 10PM, just before 11PM (only one bang each of those times) but 5-6 loud bangs ~4AM. Possibly track work on the Norfolk Southern line behind the Mallincrokpt plant on Durant Road?

Just a guess, but I looked quickly at the satellie image of the area and found a dumpster and recycling area very close by (google gave me an address of 11108 Farmville Rd Raleigh, NC 27614 and it's across the street from a pool). Maybe the dumpsters are being emptied at odd hours and/or residents are using them and making these noises?

I've rung all known suspects today (Concrete Sunrock, NCDOT, City of Raleigh, US Army Corp of Engineers having beforehand rung the Quarry and the Asphalt Company too) and no-one is aware of any night-time work going on in our area. This needs to be sorted out as it is disrupting a whole community; its extremely annoying and whoever is responsible is completely ignorant or just plain stupid.

This has been referred to the Northeast District Station for review, an update will be posted once we hear back from him. If you hear this noise again, please contact the non-emergency number 919-831-6311 so that an officer can be dispatched to the area.

It's ALL NIGHT!!!!

Yep we hear it almost every night. Last night at 10 and then it woke me about 4. Even though I know we all hear it is still startles me. Wish we knew what is making this noise.

This banging noise wakes my family up in the middle of the night. Can this please be addressed?

I have not heard it this past week, has anyone else?

RPD responded: We have been working on this complaint for the last couple of days. So far, it appears that an asphalt company in the county is the origin for the noise. An officer has spoken with the manager there and made him aware of the complaints. Sgt., will follow-up next week to determine what, if any, noise regulations apply in the county. We will let you know when we receive further information.

A number of folks in Bedford heard the banging again this morning at 4:45. I think whatever work they are doing doesn't happen on weekends, just Monday-Thursday nights.

We heard 4 loud bangs at 445 this morning. Thank you for continuing to look into this for us.

Heard a few bangs between 4:30 and 5:00am. May this issue be resolved soon.

I know this issue had been escalated to City Council. Has the source of this noise been tracked down?

As previously reported above, the issue is trucks entering and leaving the site of the asphalt company.

The property is located outside of the city's legal jurisdiction, however RPD personnel have spoken with the operators of the asphalt company. Night paving operations, which reduce traffic backups along roads being repaved, in turn cause the trucks to enter and leave the contractor's facility throughout the night.

RPD personnel have alerted HOAs in the vicinity of the results of this investigation.
