I had the same experience - my car was "vandalized" (a permanent sticker plastered on the driver's window) when I parked to on Monarch Ridge to access Acalanes Ridge. This has long been one of my favorite places to walk and I have parked there many times previously without incident. I find it very upsetting that a property owner can effectively turn a public park into a private one by eliminating all nearby vehicle parking.

Public Services is looking into this matter as part of the area includes City right-orf-way. If you have further concerns regarding this matter, please call Public Services for an update at 943-5854.

Thank you for following up. I also contacted the Walnut Creek Open Space ranger who is responsible for this area and he claimed that the first two parking bays as you drive up Monarch Ridge are still usuable by the public (I have not yet had a chance to verify this information). While this is some small consolation, it would really be more appropriate if the public could use the parking bays adjacent to the trailhead to avoid the danger of having to walk along the road to get from the lower parking bays up to the trailhead. Hopefully the City can resolve the issue to everyone's satisfaction.
