Too many SCF issues are closed before they are actually resolved. (As was the case with this issue the first time I reported it.)

They are resolved if they are put in the correct department que, if an issue shows up that does not belong to that department, we open new tickets and close the old ticket. Your issue falls in another Department that does not fall in the seven issues for SEE CLICK FIX. However, the lights in question belong to the Department of Recreation & Parks, and I will not know when the lights have been repaired. This program option is for DPU NON FUNCTIONING STREET LIGHTS, we do not handle lights in the park. This issue has been sent over to Recreation & Parks through the Citizens Request System ticket # 20020925184. I spoke with Mr. Floyd a maintenance supervisor and he assured me that the lights will be repaired on 12/06/2013. If they are not please call Recreation & Parks at 804-646-4406.

I understand what you're saying but this happens frequently: issues are closed before they are actually resolved and then they are never resolved -- and it looks like work is being done that's, quite simply, not being done. If the work is going to be done tomorrow, then I think it makes sense to close it when you hear it's actually been done. Simply passing the buck from one city department to another doesn't resolve issues.

Um, @CityofRichmond, can you be clearer? On 12-4, you said the issue had been forwarded to Parks & Rec and you closed it. Then I reopened the issue because it wasn't actually resolved and on 12-5-13 you said it would be fixed today and gave this number to call: 646-4406. I reopened it because ti wasn't actually closed (just transferred to someone else's queue, in essence) and today, 12-6, your only comment is to call a new person at a different number. Frankly, I'm confused and a bit frustrated.

My feeling is that SCF exists so that RVA citizens can make the city aware of issues that need to be fixed. This distributed citizen-reporting system takes much of the burden off the city to actually patrol and look for issues that need to be fixed. In turn, I think it's only fair that the city take ownership of issues once they are reported.

So, for example, I don't think issues should be closed before they are actually resolved (simply saying that an issue has been sent to a different department does not fix the issue). Also, I don't see why someone on the city's side of SCF can't make the call to another department down the hall and check that an issue has really been completed and then simply close the issue on SCF at that point.

Are these unreasonable expectations?

The good news: the lights at the park entrance have been turned on.

The bad news: the lights remain on during the day too. Let's fix and that save the city some money, yo.

Not sure what the light schedule is but they seem to be on late in the morning and early in the afternoon as well as at night.

@City. The lights are on at night, but they still seem to come on too early in the afternoon at times. No reason to have the lights on during the day, right?
