  Please help resolve this issue. There is currently no means of trash collection or removal or sanitation. There are no showers or sewer lines here. Burning regularly occurs here. This is harmful to those inhabiting the encampment, those living and working in the area, and the environment.

  Our business is affected on 67th Street my the encampment constantly. They will come into our shop and try to use our bathroom. They also try to use our shop air to fill their bicycle tires. Then most of our customers coming from out of the area are greeted with the encampment as they exit the offramp. It is not a good look for our business. Customers are genuinely concerned when they arrive. It is time for the City of Emeryville to do the right thing. There is a way to solve the issue. We need your help.

  We have daily homeless visitors in our apartment complex opening and stealing packages, stealing bicycle parts, sleeping in stairways. I just saw one today wondering around out hallways.

  It is FAR from resolved, in fact, it's worse than ever. Get Emeryville, Caltrans and Berkeley together and find a solution for these people and this public health and environmental hazard. Those of us that live and work around here are sick of it!

  I have already experienced residents of the homeless camp sometimes sleeping in our apartment complex stairways and hallways on cold nights as a result of this neglect. I had to call security and shouldn’t need to. Please do something soon!

  This issue has only increased in magnitude. Ignoring this will not solve anything. The entire freeway is encompassed by illegal encampments and illegally parked vehicles.

  Shame on the city of Berkeley for pushing off this problem to Caltrans. This encampment started on Berkeley land originally more towards the aquatic park. After a death in the encampment a few years ago the city of Berkeley pushed out the residents of the encampment and built a chainlink fence. This forced the encampment to its current area. The city of Berkeley simply passed the problem on to the next government agency. Now this falls in Caltrans's lap. Caltrans is currently having to deal with these issues all across the state. The truth is that Caltrans is not going to step up to resolve this issue. They have too much on their plate. It is time that the city of Berkeley and Emeryville get together to solve this issue themselves. It is pretty clear that inaction at this point is only making the situation worse. Berkeley prides its self as a progressive city. It is time they do the right thing and step up and help. This problem started on Berkeley land.
