Description

AT&T and the CTDOT have inserted a pole with a huge box in our front yard without our knowledge/consent. It is an eyesore (value of property will decreases), a safety concern as it is now difficult to see uncoming traffic coming out of driveway and a health concern as we don't know what's contain inside(radiation) with kids around. Calls and letters to the State Department, Mayor Capone's Office and the Attorney General Office that issued the permit has not been returned. A rep from AT&T tried to explain about "right of way" but this clearly is an insult and disrespect to us in our home we built. As I drive around CT I have not seen any of these boxes mounted on someone's front door. Please HELP. I have attached two pictures from when the work started but they have added more to the box.

The box I believe is for uverse. The only dangerous thing inside it is batteries. As far as them needing permission from you. They dont. The only permission they need unfortunately is from your town. To be technical the city can do what they want to your property as long as it is within 15 feet of the road. The state can go as deep as 30 feet if you live along a state route. Certain towns have voted that these boxes need to be higher off the ground because of there ugly appearance. But like I said you need to contact your town. Not the state and not AT&T. Your town voted and approved it. Anything to do with cable/phone/internet is voted on by your town counsel.

The matter as not been resolved. AT&T had there way and basically no assistance was offered by the Town of East Haven (Mayor's Office), CDOT, etc..
