A simple call to Code Compliance will resolve most issues. I have found the City very responsive and helpful in most situations.

Ooops. I forgot to mention the best course of action. Why not just speak to the home owner? Maybe it's an older person or widow that needs help? I have found most people in Garland to be great neighbors, and willing to help resolve most any situation. Just stop by !

The span of trees over the road goes for about one third of a mile, involves serveral properties, open areas, about 7 -8 house lots , some rental, so it would be best to have the city tackle this issue.
Certainly if this were in our neighborhood and one house, we always inqiure gently.This is a collector street that our area uses to access 190.

I actually stopped by the one house where the tree limbs hang down low enough to brush a vehicle that is 10 ft tall or more. The home owner is very willing to remove the limb in question. The issue is SAFETY: the speed and behavior of the traffic on Brand is scary. The speed limit is 30 mph: no one goes 30 mph, even though a motorcycle cop sits on that road at the request of several of the home owners. A simple solution would be to close down Brand while the work is done. You could put up a barricade at Queenswood to direct the traffic though to Kingsbridge if you are headed Naaman School Rd. If you are headed to Apollo, you would just make a right onto Glen Canyon which would take you to Apollo, It would probably take about 1 - 2 hours to complete. I would assume that the Neighborhood Association would be supportive of keeping our neighborhoods clean of low hanging tree limbs, while insuring the safety of the residents. Anything less would be insulting to the very concept of a "neighborhood association".

I called code to check the status , the person answering stated she would have to get back to me.
No word to date.

The issue wasn't the COG code department. The issue was insuring the safety of the owner of the property during the trimming process. Even though none of the limbs were low enough to brush any vehicle traveling down Brand, it was a problem to someone, reasons unknown. It's one thing to point out problems. It's another to determine what the root cause of the problem is, and come up with a workable solution.
