We have contacted Mass DOT due to Paradise Rd being a state roadway, they have instructed us that all new requested signage will need to be requested to the Mass DOT Highway Director from the Swampscott Traffic Committee in order for new signage to be done. I have forwarded the information to the Traffic study Committee for them to start the process with Mass DOT. I have been informed by Mass DOT that this is a process, so I am unable to give you an ETA.

Thanks, there is a 10 mph sign posted on their access road to Paradise Rd however due to large bushes in the curve of their entryway it’s almost impossible for a pedestrian to visualize a car in the last 100 yards of the roadway. Likely the visibility of a pedestrian on the sidewalk approaching their entryway would not be seen until the pedestrian stepped out into the roadway

After speaking to the Director of Public Works he stated that the Summit Estates Management Dept. may have to handle something like this , possibly establishing some kind of stop sign or even stop paint markings on their property for the exiting vehicles heading out onto Paradise Rd (1A), possibly trimming any overgrowth of bushes would help as well. The town cannot place signage on private property or 1A being a state roadway. If you wish you can contact the Summit Estates to let them know what you have dealt with and request to see if that is something they can resolve you can contact them at (781)-599-1024.
