Early this morning someone made an extremely serious and concerning allegation regarding a business not merely failing to comply with public health rules, but actively working against those rules and endangering public health and safety. It's not just another nonsense report about someone walking down a street not wearing a mask or whatever. It is far beyond that, describing conduct that knowingly and actively facilitates the spread of the virus from individuals known to be ill. It is among the most serious and dangerous things I've ever seen reported on SCF. And if true, it is exactly the kind of behavior that is causing all the rest of us to have to continue to make so many sacrifices, like our children who can't even go to school, hang out with their friends, or play high school sports, like kids should be able to do. They cannot do those things precisely because of the type of behavior that was reported, which ensures the virus' continued spread. Yet the report has not even been acknowledged by the city. It ought to be treated like the life-threatening public health emergency it is, and dealt with immediately. I can't know whether what is alleged is true. But, just as the police don't know whether every report they get is true but investigate just the same, I do expect the city to investigate promptly and thoroughly in order to find out, and to advise the community concerning the matter. We all have a right to expect nothing less.
