01/20/2014 Poor drainage along the Wissahickon Bike Trail, several hundred yards below its’ intersection with Forbidden Drive, has been causing the trail to become a steeplechase water hazard.
Since the trail was renovated in 2007 with $1.4 million (federal funding), it would seem that there has been little or no maintenance to the bikeway by the city. Vegetation grows out over the path in the summer, and mud and leaves narrow the trail in many sections, dangerously crowding together the mix of cyclists, runners, and walkers.
This drainage problem is just one example of the poor design and construction of the renovation. Other sections of the trail are too low and frequently flood, leaving a covering of mud.

01/21/2014 A volunteer from the bicycling community spent a couple hours cleaning out the gutter along the trail and uncovering a hidden drain pipe. This had been done before, about a year ago.
Philly Parks and Recreation needs to come up with a permanent solution. This should not be a fix-it-yourself trail!

03/30/2014 The problem has not been permanently fixed and is back. According to SeeClickFix, both Philly311 and Councilman Jones were notified of this issue back in February.
Nothing was done.
Also, in the attached pic, note the fallen tree across the trail in the background. This is SeeClickFix issue:

There are also several dangerous deep holes in the trail midway between Ridge Avenue and Forbidden Drive.

12/27/2014 Here's the main problem - a clogged drain was uncovered by a volunteer.
Could Philly Parks and Rec come out and unclog the drain? Or are they waiting for a volunteer to do it?

03/22/2016 This issue was submitted to Philly 311's website on Sunday, 03/13/2016, reference # 10626630. A picture was submitted as was the link to this SeeClickFix issue. The issue was (allegedly) completed on March 14, 2016, 4:47 PM COT.

HOWEVER, the drain that is clogged was NOT fixed, but a nearby open drain (downhill from the clogged drain) had the rocks that protect it removed. Two follow-up comments were then added to the Philly311 link to try to re-open the issue, but the Philly 311 website would not even allow a picture to be uploaded.
The attached picture shows the clogged drain in the foreground, now marked by an orange arrow and by a white arrow.
