It's near 50 degrees today, and Spring is next month. The Street Dept and the Parks Dept have two separate groups of workers, as they are different departments. This could have been started yesterday during normal working hours. It's not safe to walk on. We ended up walking on the RR tracks like some other guy was doing. There's not even salt on it.
i agree with fed up homeowner;;;;;;;

Its the dead of winter. Lets let them focus on the potholes not this gibberish
just because you are hibernating does not mean that the rest of us are, and they are 2 different depts.
PLEASE FORWARD TO PARKS
Thank you for your concern regarding the walking track and we apologize that it was not clear during your visit. Unfortunately, the track is a rubberized material and cannot be shoveled or salted due to the risk of causing significant damage to the surface. This track is unique as most tracks of this nature are asphalt. Asphalt tracks can be plowed and salted, but do not provide the same level of cushion, support, and durability for those using the track.
You may also be interested to know that the track is nearly 30 years old and it has held up remarkably well because of the rubberized material and the fact we have not salted or tried to clear the track during winter months. However, due to its age and heavy usage, the track is in need of replacement. We have allocated $150,000 of levy funds and are pursuing a grant to match these funds to complete the project. We believe this will be one of the most high impact uses for the levy funds due to the popularity of the track.
Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience created by the severe winter conditions and we hope that warmer weather will arrive soon to all of our parks. Please do not hesitate to contact us at the Park Office if you have additional concerns (330) 489-3015.
