I hope you don't find yourselves in our situation at Broad River Road bridge! It's been 5 years constantly battling everyone to get it finished as it's nothing fancy and no lights. We had a car pushed over the bridge by being hit by other cars behind it until it cascaded into the side boulders, hit the rocks in the river, and went into the Broad River with no one left alive. Our walking park that's part of the Three Rivers Greenway had a handicapped ramp taken out which no longer fits only being 2 years old when they began this monstrosity. Our activity at the park was shut down, opened, lower walkway destroyed at the Broad River side that joins in with Columbia Canal going down to River Front Park, never had flooding issues, ruined roads and car parts from their detour through nice neighborhoods with houses, apartments, and nice condos. It became impossible and still is as traffic tries to leave River Hill Circle on both sides of the road trying to get into traffic at Greystone Blvd. as morning and evening traffic can't get into the 3rd lane at the light to go left onto Greystone from Broad River Road. It's quite traveled and feared as workers, emergency responders, and others going to appointments at Palmetto Richland and surrounding medical offices are where most are heading to. Those coming off River Hill Circle from Skyland (Drive) Estates have it just as bad. We, also, can no longer cross the highway at the bottom to go to each others neighborhoods with no caution light there and have lived without a traffic light for 10 years as traffic grew. Only ONE side is done!!! Does it take 10 years to build a shorter bridge than yours less complicated? Would it take 20 years for yours until it's closed and then opened? People on our bridge see nothing being done for months at a time not caused by weather problems. We're still at 2 lanes and not 4!!! The handicapped ramp was about half way to the Columbia Canal side to get into the park easier and much, much closer. The latest was one news station reported 2 times around December that dynamite would be used on the end side where Columbia Canal is located! Our park is destroyed. Millions of dollars were poured in to build a special fish channel at our Diversion Dam several years ago with tours on weekends had stopped. I hope you bring in media and send pictures to the tv news stations, have people sign petitions, go to your county council meetings in numbers to complain, and make a lot of noise about it. Otherwise you will be living with your bridge problem for years!!! Your situation did NOT go to wis-tv, either or no one else. I'm sorry to inform you about this. I've been fighting it here and have wrote several "blog comments" with one here called "MIA Broad River Bridge and Columbia Park...." and other titles like that.
