Description
I see there is already so many concerned neighbors addressing this issue, however I feel I should also express my frustration with this situation and the way it is completely being ignored by the west Haven Police department as well as all the other local organizations. At any given moment you can go by this home and see the comings and goings of many shady characters. I think its time for all the reports to the police and complaints to be addressed. Please take notice and take care of this on going problem. Lets not wait until there is an assault or something truly bad happens to one of the neighborhood children. Everyone talks about setting the example for our children...lets hope the heads of our community take that step and show they care about the people in their city.

just as a heads up, many people don't realize that while it may appear that nothing is being done, usually the police ARE in fact doing something.
Just because you see what you think might be drug activity doesn't mean it is. Police can't just barge in to someone's house because you see "comings and goings" or what YOU describe as "shady characters".
That's not to say it isn't happening, but police have to substantiate what they do when they apply for search warrants, which, may require MONTHS (yes.. MONTHS) of surveillance and intelligence gathering.
You don't want the police rushing in and finding the house empty, you want them to take their time and go in when the person has drugs there. That way, when the arrest is made, the potential for more serious charges are there.
what does your block watch person report?

I would like to report an actual sighting of police, looking into this issue. Unfortunately they wandered to a couple wrong houses, but with everyone afraid to direct them to the appropriate place it makes it hard for them to effectively do their job. As a neighborhood parent it's nice to see the West Haven Police making an effort to control the situation or atleast make their presence known to all. This street has been rid of a few different bad elements in the past year, lets keep it up and see if we can once again let our children play outside without fear of them being witness to such criminal behavior!

I'm sure that you have good intentions, but you commented on this property on another thread 5 months ago. Now that there has been this awful tragedy, SUDDENLY you can help if I give you my personal information? I do not see the relevance in sharing that info in order for this issue to be resolved. I understand that you "need it for your files"...that's a load of hooey. Judging from the expedience that the WHPD has exercised in resolving this issue...what makes me trust ANYONE in West Haven nor have confidence that you have the almighty wand to wave over and "fix" the problem?
The bottom line, is that a 20 month old is DEAD in a house with known illegal activity and not a darn thing has been done. What the neighbors NEED to see is the house raided, every one of the adult occupants escorted out in handcuffs, and the children relocated to homes that can teach them right from wrong before they, too, fall into the lifestyle. Can you make that happen from behind your computer?

Fed Up...Mrs. Turkington is a writer for the West Haven Voice. The only thing she is doing is looking for news. She has yet to do anything on any of the threads that she has commented on. All she wants is a story. What we need to do is (1) Contact our councilperson. For this district, it is Nick Pascale, who has come through in the past with issues on this street. He does listen and he does care. (2) Enforce the neighborhood watch that was established a few years back. If you see something...SAY SOMETHING. Don't let them continue to make us live in fear! (3) Keep involving the police. Eventually, something will be done.
This tragedy has struck this community hard and it has affected people strongly. An angel lost her life, and at the end of the day, this woman is not going to be punished for her negligence. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about this situation but as far as the original complaint on this house, we need to take a stand! The community needs to start coming together and taking back our neighborhoods. We live in fear of retaliation and this is allowing these people to do whatever the hell they please. Kids rule the streets, adults keep their mouths shut because they're afraid. If nothing is done, it will continue it's downward spiral and soon, we will be no better than any other "ghetto" neighborhood.
