I feel your pain. I'm wondering if either of you know the deadline date for the project and also if you've spoken to anyone at Town Hall about the quality of the work?

Unfortunately there isn't a lot that can be done about ongoing construction projects, because towns often provide a lot of lead time for the completion of this kind of work. But if the contractor missed the deadline and/or the work is poor, then you can ask the town not to rehire the contractor. But before you do that it's fair to check the contract for the job itself and see whether they're living up to the deal. I'll see if I can find it.

The deadline was supposed to be for 6 weeks only starting back in August the 21st to be exact til like the first or second week of October but it lasted until the first week of December with a half @#$% job being done. The town is aware of it but doesn't seem to want to do anything to rectify the situation. Take a drive on Church st in WL and look at everyone's driveway and how they tore up everyone's grass and just left it there. They were constantly doing things without informing any of the residents on the street for example we never got a notice stating the water would be turned off not including when they broke a water main 2 or 3 times, nor were we never notified that we weren't supposed to flush the toilet and so on. Luckily for me I am moving but for the other residents they aren't so lucky as they have to wait until Spring time if at all for them to fix something they should have done right in the first place. I guess our tax dollars were hard at work for this project.

Yee-ikes. This one sounds pretty bad. I'll come check out the road asap and see what I can find out. Thanks for the report.

Be sure to notice the pieces of wood most residents on this street have to use just to get in and out of their driveway just so they don't bottom out and ruin their vehicle.

I drove Church Street today and it appears that they laid down a new layer of asphalt. Is that true? If not, I'm not sure what you're expecting in terms of more work. I'm guessing it's a fresh layer though.

The Town Office building is right there on the street so I can't imagine the contractor was going to leave a bumpy road.

Let me know if I missed anything, but otherwise you can probably close this issue.

LOL don't let them fool you all they did was lay down a layer of pavement at some ends of the driveways where the gap were more than should be. And as a current tax payer and a ex resident of that street was expecting them to do a project correctly the first time around and not take corners or do it half assed. Like I said luckily for me I don't have to deal with the street issues anymore as I have moved to another part of town.

OK, I didn't pull into anyone's driveway to see if the seams were smooth! lol ... Also, I'm just a newspaper guy and I'm not pretending to have a complete understanding of how these projects are done.

But from the standpoint of a guy who was driving down the street for the first time, I honestly didn't find any potholes or significant bumps in the main thoroughfare. They added curbing as well, possibly within the last week or so (at least that's how new they looked to me).

That said, if there are still problems I missed, maybe they're not finished so let's keep our fingers crossed.
