I am happy to see that some one else has also seen the potential for an accident to occur here. Morris Plains should make the signs posted much larger for the people parked there, perhaps they are not able to read them. I must admit I had to stop and read them to make sure I was not in the wrong when I called the Police, who are really interested in finding out who I am instead of getting over there and making the area safe and enforcing the parking laws.

I have seen the police give out tickets in the evening as well as in the morning. Doesn't seem to have much effect. There were 5 cars parked illegally on Monday. I would say that I see illegal parking there at least 4 out of 5 days per week. My guess is that the people who park there know it's illegal. Bigger signs would be of little help. But it certainly can't hurt. I am amazed that no one has gotten hurt there.

Nearly clipped some moron who not only parked illegally but then blithly got out of his car as I swerved trying to avoid hitting him. Someone is going to get hurt and then there will be a crack down. Never fails.

Morris Plains has not taken this issue seriously. It has been two years since this posting has been active and every night that I go by that area cars are parked illegally. I or the person in the right lane has to squeeze to the left to avoid the illegally parked cars. Often the drivers of these cars are hanging out on the sidewalk talking or patronizing one of the businesses there. BTW there is always adequate parking in the rear of that strip of stores. I park back there regularly. The people who blatantly break this parking ordinance are just self centered and lazy, at best. This could be stopped today buy towing the violating cars away. That's why I say that Morris Plains does not take this seriously. Perhaps when the first person is hit getting out of his illegally parked car something will be done. Then the righteous indignation will come out. This is a tragedy waiting to happen.

Last week I nearly hit a woman who exited her SUV just as I was trying to squeeze to the left to avoid her illegally parked car. Some day someone will be killed there and then someone will make a huge issue of it.
I called the police after the near miss and they said it's the State's problem, they have pressure from business owners not to ticket, towing wouldn't be effective, and essentially nothing will change. So much for protect and serve.
