Description
Can we please get some officers or a speed trap set up on Aughinbaugh from Robert Davey, Jr. to Mecartney. It's a constant speedway of racing cars. Please at the very least put a digital speed sign reminding drivers the speed limit is 25MPH! The best place to hang out to catch the speeders is at the entrance of Costa Brava development. Pedestrians, kids, ducks are literally in danger of being run over.

Acknowledged Transportation Planning (Verified Official)
Thank you for reporting your concerns about street safety in Alameda. Your report will help inform the City of Alameda’s work to achieve our Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and severe injuries. We will use street safety reports, including yours, in combination with crash data and equity indicators to prioritize and design street safety investments. This evaluation will generally happen on an annual basis, with some exceptions for clear and pressing trends. Issues that the City deems to be immediate safety concerns will be elevated for quick action.
As part of the Active Transportation Plan under development, this section of Aughinbaugh Way is recommended for buffered bike lanes. Visually narrowing the roadway through this re-striping should help calm speeds. More information is here: https://www.activealameda.org/Recommendations#section-3
A full draft Plan will be released by the end of the year. To sign up for the mailing list, choose "Active Transportation Plan" among the options here: https://www.alamedaca.gov/RESIDENTS/Subscribe
