#1 You have by far the best city councilor in our city. My ward councilor is inspecting Ash trees? Ward 5, seems like the only time we hear (electronically) from ward councilors here is in an election year?

#2 Keep posting, keep up the good work of a tax payer who's sick and tired of having our taxes up and quality down. Tell your friends, tell you neighbors.

This is an easy fix. Its called a full time Code Enforcement Officer.

Our current mayor refuses to allow the hiring of such a position that would eliminate all of the blight in the city. Call your ward councilors, they get paid to fix issues and work for the tax payer. Link below.

As far as im concerned Councilor Courchesne Ward 7 is the only one that gives a darn.

Thank you for the information! I’m telling all of my neighbors about this site & hopefully someone takes notice on how much this neighborhood has declined! Willamanset may not be the best area in Chicopee but why let it get worse! We pay $300-$400 in taxes to live here & this just isn’t right!

There are no parking signs on both sides of Charbonneauu Terr on the Chicopee Street side. Unfortunately there is no enforcement for the people that ignore it every day. Waiting for a sign to be put up on the Rivers Ave side. Please call the non-emergency number to report cars blocking driveways or parking in front of no parking signs, they will respond. Yes, a Code Enforcement Officer can write parking tickets.

Thank you for responding Councilor. The employees at the restaurant are usually the ones parked where the no parking signs are but yes no enforcement or tickets are given so the signs aren’t taken seriously. The signs are only from a specific area to corner only. It would be great to not have parking on one side at all like the surrounding streets. It’s unfortunate for the homeowners and long time tenants who don’t have off street parking because the undesirable tenants from the apartment building take up the street parking. It’s nothing but riff raff in that building & if I’m correct an officer was shot at by an individual from this building?

If i remember correctly....City ordinance for parking is 5 feet for a driveway and 20 feet for an intersection.

You have to be 5 Feet + from the opening of the driveway and 20 feet + from an intersection.

5 ft? Wow. That is not happening on this street. I had someone parked in the middle of my driveway for 2 hours from the apartment building. They were doing drugs and when I confronted them they became violent. This is the first year I’ve put serious thought in selling my home. The aggravation on this street & nothing being done about it is very disappointing. I called the cops once & I got treated like the bad guy so never bothered calling again.

That is correct. Just an FYI, I check on this street every morning after work (8am) to grab pictures of the illegally parked cars. I was also down there an hour ago and didn’t see any expired tags. If you do see an expired tag it doesn’t mean it’s actually expired.

I will confer with our city engineer about the no parking on one side as is on Rivers Ave.

The Police should be made aware of this especially if its happening that often. They can easily pull up and run a plate within seconds. If it's an attached plate the car should be towed and the plate confiscated. They can also see who that plate was assigned to originally. The registry database goes back decades, I know that for a fact.

That would be nice. I can’t get them to ticket the obvious, cars parked in front of a no parking sign, even after an email went out.

Unbelievable. They drove by earlier and still fail to notice cars in driveways with no plates and a red Honda with attached plates that’s been sitting there for 5 days. We know there attacked because when they play musical cars they use this plate

Last night at 9:30 pm the 4-12 Sgt at my request ran all 19 vehicles and all were registered. He will be keeping an eye on it when he is on.

Plates were ran on vehicles parked on the city street. No authority to go onto peoples property. That would be the health department who have been advised.
