Another follow up complaint ## 311-07053116 was closed within 13 minutes also stating that officers took action to fix the condition. However, the officers never responded and just closed the complaint. The music hasn't stopped and is ongoing.

This same situation took place yesterday in front 2323 Newkirk. From around 5 pm until at least midnight, there was car parked with the music blasting and between 10 and 12 people drinking, talking loud, and blocking the sidewalk. A neighbor and I called 311. When I called the 70th Precinct, the officer who answered said he received a 311 complaint and would dispatch a patrol car. A patrol car did come down the block but didn't stop to my amazement. However, the owner of the car blasting the music turned it down as soon as he saw the patrol car coming, but after it drove it he turned the music all the way. What shocks me is how these gatherings are regular occurrences and disturb nearly everyone in the vicinity, but no one calls 311 much less opens their window and asks them to turn the music down. As I see it, just as disgraceful as these groups of young people disturbing the peace for hours on end and trashing the sidewalks is the failure of the community to speak up. To some extent, we're getting what we deserve by not taking our community back in some form. In any event, I can't wait to move! I'm sick and tired of having to move to the back of my apartment to get some peace and quiet at any of the day!

Try contacting Saqib Mahmood, he's our Neighborhood Coordinating Officer (NCO), directly at 917-370-6405. He is off Sundays and Mondays, he is pretty responsive when on duty and he will get out of the vehicle and talk to the people causing the disturbance. Hopefully this helps.
