It is my understanding that the City of Brookhaven is taking all of these properties over in conjunction with the Parks buy out from the County.

The city will be taking this area over here sometime in the near future. If this issue isn't a pressing one then the city will address it once that they have taken control of the property. Until then though, you would have to go through DeKalb county to get the issue resolved.

This is a property that still belongs to Dekalb County. The City Arborist has been notified for review, and Dekalb County will be notified once tree is deemed a hazard.

thank you for the follow up , tree is definately a hazard to my family and pets and structure . this tree is dropping large branches everytime the wind blows . a couple more storms and this tree will be down . it is completely dead ! no green needles and pine bark shedding / bare in spots . dekalb county tells me they have to go through brookhaven to get auth to cut tree ??

any word on the hazardous tree ??? dropped another huge limb in the yard and on my fence today with no wind !! dekalb refers me to brookhaven and brookhaven throws it back on dekalb . The issue between brookhaven and dekalb is not my responsibility , keeping my structure, fence and pet SAFE IS .

so did the city arborist ever come by to check this tree ?? and what was the decision ? it's getting tiresome holding my breath with weather like we had today , just waiting for it to come down --- I think the kudzu is holding it up .

boy , am I confused !! I called dekalb watershed management , they exclaimed they they do not handle trees , referred me to dekalb county roads and drainage , they said that falls under the dept of dekalb county watershed mgmt. I told her I just got off the phone with them and they referred me to roads and drainage -- she said that this issue should be taken up with city of brookhaven , I explained to her that the property next to mine was part of the fema flood buy out program , and if I get no response from brookhaven city govt. then I should call F.E.M.A.. --- REALLY ??? come on guys . we pay county tax , city tax and federal tax !! quit passing the buck ! this has really been a eye opener !! # so frustrated !

still no call from kay evanovich ??? I understand brookhaven is not responsible for fema lots , but I guess I was expecting a little help from the city , like calling someone who is responsible and fast tracking this issue ??? is that asking too much ?? considering I have lost use of my backyard !

oh well , guess I will have to call a tree service myself and have it removed ?? next question , will I be fined for removing a tree from the green space that is DEAD and poses serious risk to my property and structure ? if so how much ?

steve , I appreciate the advice but so far it has been a joke trying to even get a hold of anyone in the city of brookhaven , left numerous v-mails with city officials and cant even get a single call back . I am over brookhaven govt . I just want to know the fine for having the tree removed myself --- ohhhhhh let me guess I probably need to get a permit from the city of brookhaven to remove a tree that is not even mine , then pay a fine for having it removed -- what a joke !!

Sorry for the delay, This tree issue was one of a long list of tree issues For us to look at. I have recommended removal of the tree to Public works. Hopefully they will be resolving this shortly.

I had my tree issues addressed pretty quickly by sending pictures to Dekalb Councilman Rader's office.

The Tree is on DeKalb county owned property,This issue was reported to DeKalb County by the Brookhaven Public works Department. A follow up request has been sent to Public works.
