I totally agree. This is getting more and more dangerous. I dont use Echols to turn into Dowden Terrace, or the next street up, Fillmore, which doesn't even have a light. I use Dawes, two streets up since it has a small left turn lane. Using one of the other two seems like asking to be rear ended. A left turn at the beginning of the light would help. However, we also want to be careful not to make it too attractive to turn into our neighborhood or we will get a lot more cut-through traffic. I think that staggering which direction gets to go only during rush hour is a good alternative, if the city would look at it. So, westbound traffic goes and then eastbound traffic goes. If cross traffic from Echols arrives, that side can be given a turn as well. With proper timing, I think that could be done to avoid both a dangerous left turn and a backup on Seminary.
