These are all coming from the News & Observer. I have contacted them three times over the past six month and each time I have gotten empty promises that they will stop. I think it is time for some enforcement action, criminally.

This has been reported twice before and the problem has not been fixed.

I have contacted the News and Observer several times and asked them to stop and was assured that they would stop delivering to my house but this still continues.

This problem is not isolated to this block, if you drive throughout this neighborhood, these newspapers are everywhere!!!

We have contacted the News and Observer. When they have responded I will update this issue.

A blonde female in a black civic just came by and picked up all of the papers.

I never thought of the safety aspect of this where newspapers piling up attracts thieves who break into homes. If I ever go on vacation, I am going to be paranoid that the news and observer is gonna let criminals know that I am nit at home.

Interesting. That was either quick work or a coincidence. I have heard nothing back as of yet from the N&O.

Help resolve this with a comment, image or video...Another point everyone here is missing is that when newspapers pile up at homes, that is a sign to thieves that nobody is home and that this house can be burglarized rather easily.

I am willing to bet that since the N&O will not stop delivery for any reason, if someone goes on a two week vacation, they can expect four newspapers piled in front of their house and all of their valuables inside missing.

We have checked these areas of concern, and although nothing was found near Brooks and Van Dyke, we did find some issues not picked up in the Tarboro Rd. areas.

Since then we have cleaned up the area and have taken preventative measures to insure there will be no more problems in the future.

I am going to send Ms. Thomas an email this morning. It appears that there is a disconnect between the delivery driver and management. This morning when I looked outside, all if the vacant houses on the 1100 block of E. Martin had newspaper deliveries this morning.

Can't RPD file littering charges against the person delivering these newspapers?

Actually, no, if they deliver onto private property. Littering laws only affect public property. I think your idea to send Ms. Thomas an email is a good one. Only the property owners can stop the delivery...the City can't do much about that.
