Thank you Christopher for sending me this information. I was totally unaware of the situation and already contacted my alderman. This in ONLY 1 episode. I had at least 5 other episodes where other tenants nearby dropped off their huge pieces of unwanted junk. They never put them in front of their own apartment, but always seem to choose my building. Fortunately, downtown has been very helpful in taking them away. Also, my alderman offered to call downtown next time, if any more occurrences happened. It is getting to the point of installing a camera surveillance system. This is ridiculous when I pay over $12,000 in taxes and the city is charging for pick-up. Again, thanks for the information. You just explained why I had so many problems recently. Of course, the landlords adjacent to me never bother to tell their tenants not to leave large items on the sidewalk. When somebody moves out, a landlord should know when there is abuse. However, they just turn their head which is equally as wrong as their tenant.

DG: $12,000 in city taxes plus the city is also charging for bulk pick up, assessing annual tax on your car, and an annual tax (permit) to park your car on the street that your $12,000 helps maintain and sweep and plow. Plus sales tax and the portion of state income tax that goes back to the city. I'd like the see the math on all that vs. benefits.
