Description
In addition to the many (many) previous reports on speeding/unsafe driving on High Street, this particular intersection often has a sprinter van (legally) parked on the corner, making it nearly impossible for someone to see oncoming traffic when turning from Garfield onto High St. It's not the persons fault as they are parking in a legal space, but perhaps we could create a red zone there given the clear danger posed from cars trying to merge.

Thank you for reporting your concerns about street safety in Alameda. Your report will help inform the City of Alameda’s work to achieve our Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and severe injuries. We will use street safety reports, including yours, in combination with crash data and equity indicators to prioritize and design street safety investments. This evaluation will generally happen on an annual basis, with some exceptions for clear and pressing trends. Issues that the City deems to be immediate safety concerns will be elevated for quick action.
The City does not install daylighting by request, but we will use this reports when planning street maintenance and improvement projects. We are currently installing daylighting through the High Injury Corridor Daylighting Project (www.alamedaca.gov/hicdaylighting) and the pavement management program (www.alamedaca.gov/saferstreets#section-5).
